Jonnene and I had the pleasure tonight of watching the last part of "The Man From Snowy River" on the TMC channel. Filmed in 1982 and is based on the poem by Banjo Paterson, written in 1890. It is one of the best loved and best known story/poems in Australian literature. Paterson also wrote the iconic Waltzing Matilda which could be considered an unofficial national anthem for the country (according to some sources I found).If you want to hear the poem and see corresponding scenes from the movie, click on this LINK. It's really well done and if you think you see Kirk Douglas...you're right! If you haven't seen the movie, you'll be amazed at the scene known as "The Descent" ...definitely the highlight of the film and the poem.
